More than 200 volunteers help to make the Viljandi Folk Music Festival happen every year. It is a pretty big percent of the team, considering that the size of the whole team is right over 400 people. Volunteers are needed to sell tickets, souvenirs, merch and records, for field maintenance, to work in the construction team, in the information tent, in the luggage hold and to attend the needs of the audience in the halls of Traditional Music Center and in Aida café. Stage managers, band hosts, couriers, IT-support, drivers, guards of the Sleepdom, photographers and secretaries of the festival headquarters are volunteers as well.
It is a wonderful opportunity to see the hidden side of a big event and test yourself in different fields that are new to you. Many team members describe volunteering at the festival as a highlight of the summer, the atmosphere is always good, full of good music and experiences. The team brings together so many people with different backgrounds, it’s a chance to find new friends and also professional contacts. A volunteer workday is usually around 6–7 hours long which means that there’s enough time left to enjoy the festival programme too. It is also a great opportunity for personal development and learning new things – on several occasions, our volunteers have climbed their way up to a position of the head of a team or found a job in Estonian Traditional Music Center.
If you are at least 18 years old and up for a challenge then sign up to volunteer, the application form will be open in April 2019. Keep an eye on our website!More information:
